Matthew 4, 18: “And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.19:And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. 20: And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.” This is what happened to the fishermen. Jesus told them to follow Him, knowing very well that these men depended on fishing. They certainly have been fishermen for a while, however, they were struggling to have a catch. These men had their families to take care of, but still, Jesus all knowing, omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent insisted that this pair of fishermen to follow Him.
Then just after He asked them to follow Him, He came to another pair of striving fishermen, in anticipation for a catch in order to support their loved ones. Matthew 4, 21: “And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.22: And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.” They were fixing their nets. Things seemed not to be going well for this pair of fishermen. Jesus seeing their struggle, He called them and without hesitation, they followed Him.
This goes to most of us today, we turn to be so busy fixating on making a living just as the likes of Peter. We could be soaked in our careers and yet we seem to be lacking peace, joy, true liberation and total fruition. True meaning of purpose is not only about being consumed in our careers. True meaning of life , 2000 years ago was following Jesus, the world of life. Still, to this day of millenials, true meaning of life and joy is possessed through the word of God. The ultimate way today of following Jesus today is loving and soaking in His word. JESUS, THE WORD MADE FLESH.
One other way we turn to be thwarted from joy and a liberal life is being like the like a of James. Too hectic fondling and trying to patch where our career lack in order to have our own catch of fruition. I am not saying it is wrong to try and improve on your desired career to make a better living, 100% no. You can, like James, try and neat pick your career to perfect it and lack so much peace and joy or you can like Peter, try your utmost to pocesss more and still lack so much peace.
This may be controversial to say, but nonetheless so true, Jesus our keeper of peace is so much more valuable than our careers can ever be. The word of God is so valuable.Regardless how fruitful your career may be, you can lack so much peace and life, but Jesus will make you enjoy your career to the highest heights. On the other hand, you can struggle and not be abounding in the physical but Jesus can cause you to have peace while you believe for your breakthrough.
