Humanity moans for affection, that is one thing I have come to realize. Love indeed is a crucial aspect of our lives, either being in the receiving end of the love give away or at the giving side of the love give away. 1 Corinthians 13:8: “Love never fails: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.” This in essence shows how love is an integral part of both the world and heaven in totality.. Love, whether right here and now on earth or in heaven, love will continue to exist and everlastingly continue to exist.
In continuation of this beautiful subject of love, 1 Corinthians 13:13: “And now abideth faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” This verse strongly insists that the greatest of these is love, Love in itself has so many outcomes through which people can express availability to each other. It could be encouraging, why? Because you hate seeing someone feel down and just by loving the person, you exhort. Providing a hug when one hurts, why? Because you hate what the person is feeling and you just display love in an action form by extending your arms to comfort. There are numerous ways through which love can be displayed.
My main focus in this article however is showing love through giving. Extending a hand to give. Giving fueled with hot core boiling love. You see a fellow Christian, neighbour or stranger suffering and you have something to give, you may not have more than enough but you witness the dire need of this individual. What do you do? look in your bag to see whether you have more than enough before you could give? Let’s just pause on that by putting a pin on that point. John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Let’s just imagine this, what if God would have looked in His Kingdom before He gave His Son, and actually come to notice that all He had was Jesus? Let’s say He diserns that the only Son He had is Jesus and converses within Himself, “Jesus is the only Son, My only begotten Son, can I spare my only Son, just to safe mankind? I can’t give away all I have.”
Just visualize that? How would the world be, where would we have our hope in if God hadn’t given all He had just for us? Would we even have church today if God really considered the fact that all He had is Jesus? We would still be in the old covenant. Just imagine the heavy duty that would still be on some of us who would have to slaughter sheep, bulls and doves just to be in perspective with God. However, gaining this perspective with God,then would have to be a continual and on and off progressive ritual to avoid damnation.
Jumping back to the former point, lets pick out that pin. So actually looking whether or not you have more than enough to help a family member, a fellow Christian or even a perfect stranger is not really flowing in the wave of love in action. So I do affirm you ladies and gentlemen to,whenever there is a desperate need of love, portray it, bearing this in mind, you are excersing what God portrayed. Even if you have nothing to offer, touching a shoulder, giving a smile is love in itself.
In closing, one fellow Christian performed a really remarkable display of affection. It really shook me to the core. I can not go into details but will try to pass the message effectiveness, she met a lady who was so much in need at church, this individual was a guest at our church. She just let the Romans 5:5 come into existence, “And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.” The love that the Holy Spirit brings alive into our heart was so tangible. She comforted this person, gave her all the savings she had and she made our senior pastor aware of this challenge the person was in and help is indeed coming in the way of this person that this fellow Christian met.
So beautiful, all you could even do is to make your elders at church aware of the need that one is encountering. This is love. Stop looking at what you have or what you will lose, give a hand and let love live forever here on earth.
